Ubuntu 22.04 Root on ZFS (openzfs.github.io)

I was unfortunately correct. https://reddit.com/r/zfs/comments/sy3yp6/_/hxwy02w/?context=...

"Lastly, I agree about zsys - it feels like someone’s hobby project that became an integral part of the system and then abandoned. The github project hasn’t seen a commit in 9 months - the author looks like they are spending their time on WSL/microsoft integration stuff. In true ubuntu fashion, i expect it will be replaced with another half functioning system in the next release."

Can Ubuntu now handle ZFS in RAID-0 for the root volume? According to this document, it is possible!

If it really works seamlessly, could this become the _ultimate_ configuration for reliable and scalable HomeLab storage?

Ubuntu isn't my preferred OS these days, but I've had excellent experiences with it's ZFS root installs as well as it's included zsys: https://github.com/ubuntu/zsys

So sad that zsys is deprecated now. For me this means: No more snapshots to select in GRUB. They should at least keep this functionality.

If you like snapshots at least one person has got https://zfsbootmenu.org/ working with ubuntu server[0].

This functionality was pretty broken, to be honest. Certainly it worked for some people, but it easily broke.
