Not sure, why they are displaying awful chromatic aberrations on their front page under the title "Advanced optics". That's not something to be proud of. If that was a result from a real camera lens, it would be a joke of a lens. Maybe fun for artistic purposes.
I understand this might be a view through some microscope maybe, but there is barely any magnification.
Chromatic and spherical aberrations for VR lenses are actually not critical, you can just split RGB channels and pre-warp in shaders with reasonable performance penalties. That was one of breakthrough ideas of Rift DK1.
