Now open source Claude Code. It's silly to have it in this semi-closed obfuscated state, that does absolutely nothing to stop a motivated reverse engineering effort, but does everything to slow down innovation.
Especially in a setting where e.g. Gemini CLI is open source, and Goose seems to be an actually open source project.
I think them controlling Claude Code CLI that tightly is 1) a way to make the limits of the fixed-price subscriptions more manageable to them, somehow 2) lets them experiment with prompts and model interactions slightly ahead of their competition.
