Myst and its sequels, including its spiritual sequel Obduction (it's more modern and avoids some of the 90s pitfalls of the older ones).

Antichamber was a game that was a bit too brain whack for me to get into but I have friends who swear by it.

I'm also going to throw out a honorable mention to What Remains of Edith Finch, it's more walking simulator than an actual puzzle game, but it definitely has a lot of discovery and IMO sets the bar for that genre.

But yeah if Lucas Pope could be cracking on the Obra Dinn cinematic universe I'd appreciate it lol. I've bought at least 6 copies of that game for various people at full price, absolutely my favorite game I've ever played.
